Not to be confused with the third wine of a famous First Growth, the 2015 Château Pauillac is actually a cuvée from the holdings of Château Fonbadet, designed to be a special wine under the consultancy of Michel Rolland. Coming in a suitably heavier bottle than Fonbadet, it has a ripe blackberry, tobacco and oyster shell, almost estuarine bouquet that is well defined and full of character. The palate is medium-bodied with a saltiness on the entry, very structured and masculine, tobacco and allspice decorating the voluminous finish. It is certainly an impressive wine and superior to Fonbadet, although more finesse by the time it is in bottle would not go amiss.
